NCADA and NCCAT Partnership to Support Automotive Educators
The North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association (NCADA) recently presented a check for $100,000 to the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) in support of the center’s ambitious commitment to enhancing education outcomes across the state. NCCAT was created by the NC State Legislature in 1985 to renew the vitality and enthusiasm for the teaching profession and to equip teachers with new knowledge for the classroom.
NCADA’s donation was given to NCCAT Director Mary McDuffie at a special presentation during the association’s 73rd Annual Convention. The funding will benefit future programming for NCCAT teachers, as well as automobile technology education in public schools. As part of the partnership, NCCAT will develop an educational seminar specifically designed to encourage the retention of vocational education teachers.
“We are extremely grateful for the major support of the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association,” said McDuffie. “Our organizations were drawn together because of two interests we share – promoting educational opportunities and economic development in our state. Having excellent teachers in our schools will support both of these important goals.”
NCADA has been a long standing supporter of teachers in North Carolina and has supported the North Carolina Teacher of the year program from 1999 to 2006. Over that timeframe, NCADA’s Board of Directors has approved more than $350,000 of support for the North Carolina Teacher of the Year program.
