Glaser Named Outstanding Association Executive
RALEIGH, N.C.—Robert J. Glaser, President of the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association (NCADA), a trade association representing 700 franchised car, truck and RV dealers in North Carolina, was recently named the Association Executive of the Year in North Carolina.
This award, presented by Mike Borden, Chairman of the Association Executives of North Carolina (AENC), represents AENC’s highest honor for an association’s chief executive officer. The award reflects outstanding leadership and achievement in association management. “Outstanding” executives serve AENC, contribute to other voluntary membership organizations, as well as participate in various civic and community affairs. This individual exemplifies the best in association management by continually bringing credit to the profession and the association community.
“It is an absolute honor and pleasure to earn this award.” comments Glaser in accepting the award. “It’s only with the help of our staff at NCADA, our industry members across the state, and my family that I’m able to participate in so many worthy association efforts. I will do my best to carry on the tradition that association executives have built in making an impact in North Carolina.”
Glaser has been the President of the NCADA since 1996 and spent 15 years in the Washington DC area prior to moving to North Carolina. As a CPA, Glaser was responsible for founding and developing the “Financial Management and Computer Applications Seminar for Not-For-Profit Organizations”, a seminar for trade associations in the late ‘80s. He earned a B.S. degree in Accounting and Management from the University of Dayton in 1983 and graduated from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management at Notre Dame University in South Bend Indiana in 1995.
Glaser formerly served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE); was past Chairman of ASAE’s Finance and Administration Section, and past Chairman of the Notre Dame Institute for Organizational Management. He is a former Board member of the Automotive Trade Association Executives (ATAE), Past Chairman of the Association Executives of North Carolina (AENC), and is a current committee member of the North Carolina Commission on Global Climate Change and is the Treasurer of the North Carolina Self-Insurers Guarantee Fund.
Involved in the local community, Glaser is the current basketball coach at a local grade school and has coached youth sports since 1977. He was the founding chairman of the Holly Springs Recreational Advisory Board in Holly Springs, North Carolina.
He is also a former editorial board member for Computers in Accounting and CPA Computer Digest. He has written and spoken extensively on accounting services, financial management, computer applications and association management.
Founded in 1935, NCADA has a strong membership comprised of new car, truck and RV dealers across North Carolina and works with the federal, state and local governments to promote and educate franchised dealers on evolving business issues.
