C. Owen Bertschi Honored at NADA Convention

C. Owen Bertschi, of High Point, N.C., was recently honored by the National Automobile Dealers Association as North Carolina’s 2011 Time Dealer of the Year nominee.  Bertschi is the President of Crescent Ford Inc., in High Point.  The Time Dealer of the Year award is the most prestigious national industry award a franchise dealer can receive.  The award recognizes those individuals whose performance, leadership and community service reflect the highest standards of dealers nationwide.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bertschi started working in the family automobile business in 1975 as an Office Manager.  He later served as General Manager and was named Dealer Principal in 1980.

Bertschi is a successful Ford dealer who is currently serving his third term as chairman of the Carolina Ford Dealer Advertising Association.  His dealership has been Blue Oval certified since the inception of the program.  In addition, Bertschi received the Ford President’s Award in 1985, 1986 and 1987 and the Ford Motor Credit Partners in Quality Award in 1999, 2000 and 2001.

Bertschi is active in his community and serves on the Executive Committee of the High Point Chamber of Commerce.  In 2004, he was honored by the Chamber as its “Business Person of the Year”.  He also serves on the Board of the High Point Economic Development Corporation, where he has served as Chairman.  In addition, he is the Secretary/Treasurer for the High Point Alliance for Workforce Preparedness.  Bertschi is a charter member of the Rotary Club of the Triad, and served as its President in 1982-1983.  In 1988 he was recognized as “Rotarian of the Decade”.  Crescent Ford is an active supporter of the United Way of Greater High Point and has been a Pacesetter Company since 2001.  In 2001, Bertschi was given the Key to the City of High Point for his support of the GED and Adult High School program at Guilford Technical Community College.

Bertschi is a Sunday School teacher and serves on the Board of Deacons and Elders at the Zion United Church of Christ.  He also serves in a number of roles including Vice Chairman for the High Point Regional Health System.

Bertschi is also an active member of the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association (NCADA) and has served on its Board of Directors since 2008.
